This is a professional services firm founded on a cornerstone of public accounting.
Our 2,000+ team members serve clients from offices and project locations in 37 states,
Washington D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
This tax manager would be responsible for the review and management of the firm
Partnership return as well as individual partner returns that participate in tax prep
service offerings. He/she is responsible for managing these projects simultaneously and coordinating workflow amongst the finance/accounting team. Manager will communicate with partners and finance team regularly and build those relationships.
Manager will be proficient in tax research and be able to properly document and cite findings.
Required Experience and Education:
Seven (7) to ten (10) years’ tax experience in public accounting or consulting,
demonstrating a progression in complexity and number of projects managed.
Multistate taxation and apportionment experience to address nexus and filing
requirement issues.
Experience with international taxation strongly preferred(Virgin Islands &
Puerto Rico, specifically)
Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Accounting.
Current and valid CPA license is required
Must be a member in good standing with the AICPA and respective state
societies
Proficiency in use of computers, computer accounting software packages, and
Excel. Experience with CCH ProSystemfx or CCH Axcess is strongly preferred.
Job Requirements:
Assumes full responsibility for preparing the firm and its participating partners’
tax returns and special assignments related to these using established Firm
policies and procedures. This includes, but is not limited to: extension
calculations, quarterly estimate calculations, special allocations within the Firm's return, basis and at-risk tracking, fixed asset updates, notice responses,
and other special calculations related to these returns as assigned/needed.
Develops relationships with partners and accounting/finance team and
provides high quality client service.
Owns tax return preparation process for the company as an entity as well as
participating partners.
Able to research and provide answers related to 1099 and multistate W-2
questions.
Develops understanding of the company's HR employee handbook to review language
in updates on tax issues such as moving expenses and reimbursements.
Identify tax issues and planning opportunities as they arise and communicate
to partners and finance/accounting team.
Ensures that working papers, tax returns, and other Firm/partner deliverables
are accurate and prepared in accordance with professional and Firm standards.
Communicates project’s progress, problems, resolutions, tax activity and other
business concerns to FirmFirst Accounting/Finance team lead.
Accepts responsibility for accuracy of data entry, accumulation, and
maintenance in all aspects of what we do as an accounting and consulting Firm.
Learns through Performance Advisor or direct Supervisor proper management
of workload and demonstrates ability to manage workload effectively.
Other Responsibilities:
Assumes individual responsibility to learn all new technology introduced by the
Firm as appropriate.
Such other duties as may be assigned.
