Job Description:

I) Job Purpose

• To provide clinical oversight to the Tarrant County START Team and the START Resource Center

II) Essential Functions

• Provide oversight and consultation on positive behavior and interaction supports and other written documents
• Review START related documentation and provide clinical input
• Provide training and consultation to staff, families and providers including ongoing organization and conduction of CETs
• Assist START Coordinators with preparation for START Coordinator certification
• Participate in recurring team meetings as necessary
• Develop positive support and interaction plans as necessary for guests at the resource center who require more extensive safety measures
• Participate in discussion regarding potential Resource Center admissions
• Provide on-site consultation as needed for individuals receiving START therapeutic supports
• Participates in the on-call rotation as back-up. Fulfills primary role in rotation as needed.
• Enter, monitor and assure data entry for all team members in the START Information Reporting System. Use data to inform programmatic decision making.

• Laws related to persons with IDD or related conditions
• Rules pertaining to Medicaid and Medicare eligibility
• Ability to develop and maintain productive working relationships with agency staff and external service providers
• Ability to negotiate and manage conflict diplomatically
• Strong advocacy and monitoring abilities
• Advanced skills in written and verbal communication
• Ability to work in a team and independently
• Ability to work with minimal supervision
• Strong organizational skills
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, in a fast paced, multi-tasking environment
• Proficient and skilled in word processing and information systems, particularly in the use of Windows software applications, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and CMHC
• A minimum of a master’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling or other human service field with 2 years’ experience with people with IDD and/or behavioral health concerns. Doctoral study referred.
• Experience with working with people who are dually diagnosed
• Experience with crisis response and development of crisis plans
• START certified or can become START certified within 12 months of hire

V) Travel

A) State and national travel may be necessary

B) This position requires driving to and from locations for work and/and may require overnight traveling. Employees are required to have a license in good standing and be able to be covered by agency liability insurance. If personal vehicle is utilized for work travel, then maintaining personal auto insurance coverage is required.

Job Requirements:

Required Education

Master’s Degree

Defined Education

Master’s required in Psychology OR other Mental Health Field OR Health and Human Services Field

Preferences

START Certified or ability to become START Certified in 12 months

Required Years’ Experience

Three (3) years of work experience in Health and Human Services

Defined Experience

Experience with people with IDD and/or behavioral health concerns.

License/Certifications

Valid TX driver's license with an acceptable driving record

Supervisory Experience

One (1) year experience

Testing Requirements
Pre-employment tests including drug and TB Screening, Physical Exam including balance and lift test.
