Sr. Process Engineer
Summary:
This position will serve as the subject matter expert for co-rotating twin screw extrusion in a 24/7 operation. Senior Process Engineer will lead development of processing standards & methods for all products, as well as manage projects to improve safety, quality, yields, and increase capacity.
 

General requirements:

Responsibilities include, but will not be limited to:

  • Develop extrusion processing standards & methods and oversee training to ensure best practices are followed on all production shifts.
  • Analyze, and interpret Wonderware process historical data to correctly focus improvement activities.
  • Conduct statistical analysis and DOE’s to determine critical processing parameters and optimize them.
  • Lead or participate in multifunctional teams including EH&S, manufacturing, quality control, maintenance, and R&D to drive improvements.
  • Develop economic justification for Capex projects and manage programs to improve safety, quality, increase capacity, reduce waste, and improve profitability.
  • Interact with vendors to develop concepts and establish equipment specifications in order to design, purchase, install, and qualify new equipment within established timelines.
  • Responsible for creating, updating and maintaining process documentation for the plant’s ISO system.

Requirements and Experience:

  • 10 years previous Process Engineering experience in co-rotating twin screw polymer extrusion involving multiple material feed streams. Experience in handling and blending liquid and dry chemicals. Experience with sheet extrusion and flexible continuous web systems preferred.
  • B.S. in Polymer Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering with an M.S. preferred. Equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Knowledge of statistical process control, root cause analysis, data historians, process control, operation principles, ISO 14000 and ISO 9000 systems.
  • ASQ certification as a Six Sigma Green Belt, Six Sigma Black Belt, or Quality Engineer preferred.
  • Excellent negotiation and interpersonal skills. Must be able to effectively communicate from the shop floor operator to the VP.
  • Must have the ability to stay organized while handling multiple priorities.
