Service Technician

We are a small family owned company that’s been operating for a quarter of a century. We are currently looking to hire a Field Service Technician. This is a position that will grant you the ability to work independently with a daily variety of tasks. You will be able to grow your skill set in a niche market that provides a stable long-term career. Because of the diversity of this position, our ideal candidate must be dependable, hard-working, energetic, and a quick thinker. TLC Sign has a strong reputation with our customers who are located mostly throughout Central and Northeastern Wisconsin. We have three locations: Oshkosh, Kimberly, and Weyauwega, and daily travel to various job sites will be required. We are looking for someone to dispatch from our Kimberly location. TLC Sign offers training and advancement opportunities. This position is great for a seasonal construction worker who will be getting laid off this fall, a high school graduate who wants to learn new skills on the job, a person who can't stand sitting at a desk all day, or someone that loves to make their own decisions on how to get things done.

Our ideal candidate possesses some of the following qualities, and we will train in those you don't have experience with:

• Excellent driving record with a CDL or desire to earn one
• Knowledge of electrical circuits and components
• Basic constructions skills
• Familiar with (or patience to learn) computer hardware and communication cables and devices for LED displays (Message Center Signs and Scoreboards)
• Customer service skills – you will be working directly with the customers at their business locations and will frequently be the main point of contact regarding their lighting needs
• Be comfortable working at heights and in the elements
• Energetic, positive personality with strong personal and work ethics
• Physically capable to lift 50lbs, stoop, twist, reach, stand, and drive for periods of time
• Self-starter who can troubleshoot and make the right decision with little guidance
• Quick and eager to learn new things
• Team player

What duties are we asking of you?

• To serve existing accounts by analyzing work orders, investigating lighting outages, conducting tests, and resolving problems
• Maintain customer relationships with your positive attitude and thorough explanations
• Change out lamps, ballast, sockets, wiring, LEDs, etc. in existing signs or commercial lighting; install new sign structures. We do NOT work with high electrical voltage
• Eventually you can drive and operate sign crane trucks, trailers, skid steers, and other powered industrial trucks
• Set up software and communication for LED displays and scoreboards
• Fabricate sign materials as needed; use basic power tools and hand tools
• Apply vinyl graphics to signs
• Document service and installation tasks performed using a provided smartphone

Our Field Service Technician position will provide you with the chance to feel the sun on your face and the wind under your feet as you work on commercial building signage. You will learn just how in depth our industry is, and the more you learn the more you will advance within our company. A Field Service Technician will spend about 80% of his or her time outdoors, working independently, with a partner, or with a team depending on the day’s assignments. Occasional over-night travel may be asked of you, and we never share rooms. When possible, we rent cottages on the lake.
