Job Description:

The Senior Piping / Mechanical Engineer’s responsibilities include every aspect of chemical plant infrastructure and piping/mechanical design for new facilities and improving the safety, reliability and operability of existing facilities. The Sr Piping/Mechanical Engineer provides technical leadership and assistance with developing specifications for piping systems, tanks/vessels, rotating equipment, etc. They will guide studies and evaluations, aid in developing piping / P&ID drawings, approve piping / mechanical drawings and aid in developing project scopes. This role works with operations personnel, project teams, maintenance personnel, mechanical contractors and others to provide optimal piping / mechanical engineering designs and solutions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
•    Works on multiple projects while balancing efforts to effectively provide project deliverables to meet fast paced deadlines while adhering to budgetary constraints
•     Works with in-house piping / mechanical design team to create piping / mechanical project designs.
•    Works with project engineering team to review piping/mechanical packages provided by 3rd party engineering groups.
•    Executes all aspects of piping / mechanical engineering based on a solid understanding of engineering fundamentals and advanced concepts.
•    Responsible for drawing setup and design documentation
•    Responsible for overseeing construction document development from initial design to issue for construction
•    Performs and reviews project cost estimating
•    Assists with developing, maintaining and reviewing piping and other relevant engineering standards
•    Provides construction support including bid evaluations, submittal reviews, responding to RFIs, providing filed support, conducting final walkthroughs, and developing punch list and “as-built” record drawings
•    Leads projects and multi-disciplinary tasks
•    Provides leadership and facilitates technical and management collaboration amongst project team members, and stakeholders
•    Communicates and works with stakeholders on a variety of issues including progress and status reports, scope, schedule, and budget 
•    Tracks the progress of deliverables, technical input, and comment resolution
•    Participates in project decisions regarding technical approaches, cost, and scheduling performance
•    Monitors project schedules regularly to determine any delays or deviations.

  • Monitors fees and budgets; proactively reports problems to the appropriate Department Managers
  • Manages workload and deliverables on multiple project within budgeted hours.

 

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

 

· Maintain complete and open lines of communication with other personnel, functions, or departments to facilitate operations and interaction in the organization.

· Mentor other engineers and pass on your knowledge to operators, maintenance personnel, etc. to aid them in their jobs.

· Shadow other’s tasks or jobs that you are unfamiliar with in order to continuously improve your technical acumen.

· Keep supervisor informed of status and progress, ensuring that regular and periodic communication takes place, and that personal and plant goals are being achieved.

· Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks and keeping abreast of industry trends and related compliance issues within the area of responsibilities.

· Maintain professional conduct, attendance, and high ethical standards in the work place, complying with company’s policies and procedures.

· Fulfill mandatory training requirements applicable for department and job duties as appropriate.

· Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or requested by supervisor or Management.

Education Qualification -B.Sc Mechanical Engineering 
Project Management Professional (PMP)

Experience
10 + Chemical manufacturing experience 
5+ Project / Design engineering experience

Technical Knowledge & Skills
Familiar with SAP functionality
Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, Teams)
AutoCAD & MS Project
Familiarity with API, ASME and other relevant industry standards
