The Refrigeration and Ammonia Technician III is responsible for the daily monitoring and maintenance of all ammonia based refrigeration systems across multiple facilities.  This includes preventative maintenance, repair, and reconstruction of all refrigeration equipment.\\


This position is responsible for:

  • Operating the computer based refrigeration system and monitoring all devices related to the ammonia system
  • Dismantling malfunctioning systems and test components. Adjusting or replacing worn or defective mechanisms and parts, and re-assembling repaired systems
  • Testing lines, components and connections for leaks
  • Interpreting and understanding blue prints and schematics
  • Using hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, pressure gauges and precision instruments, pneumatic wrenches, lathes, welding equipment, jacks and hoists (Must have own hand tools)
  • Completing or initiating work record sheets in CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) – Maintenance Connect.  Maintaining logs and other required records and reports
  • Following established safety practices and requirements
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Knowledge of ammonia based refrigeration systems.
  • Experience operating Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) required
  • Ability to solve problems using critical and analytical thinking skills 
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, parts diagrams and electrical schematic drawings
  • Must have formal training through prior work experience and/or from a trade school or technical college
  • Must be "hands-on" and assist in completing tasks related to position
  • Background in working with outside vendors and contractors preferred
  • Able to work in a fast paced, cold, wet, refrigerated environment
  • Preferred certification- CIRO (Certified Industrial Refrigeration Operator)
  • Required certification- CARO (Certified Assistant Refrigeration Operator)
