The basic function of the production technician in the housing organization is to perform the operations of metal forming, welding, and metal cutting for the drive axle housing. All shifts are available with weekly overtime!

Housing Production Technician Key Duties & Responsibilities:

· Use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, dial indicators, and micrometers to determine adherence of product characteristics to prescribed specifications.

· Read, comprehend, and execute written instructions; to determine from manufacturing instruction guides what machine fixturing and tooling is required for the specified product being produced; to determine the dimensional characteristics of the product being produced and control the process as prescribed by the control plan.

· Setup and operate automated weld cells; adjust torches, replace liners, teach points on robots

· Verify conformity of welds coming off automated cells; repairing welds as required

· Adjust weld parameters and torch positions in automated cells

· Setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and calculating compensation requirements

· Maintains specifications by observing lathe and mill operations including drilling, turning, and facing; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting controls; replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes

· Ensure operation of machinery is performed in accordance with established procedures, for the safety of the individual, and all employees.

· Be able to operate and adjust manufacturing equipment including making fixturing and tooling changes.

· Be able to setup machine and changeover according to Standard Work Instructions. Ensure product conformance and normal operation after setup.

· Operate a fork truck safely.

· Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any nonconformities relating to product, process, and quality systems.

· Identify and record any product, process, and quality system problems.

· Initiate, recommend, or provide solutions through designated channels.

· Control further processing, delivery, or installation of nonconforming product until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected as defined by applicable procedures and/or delegation of the area manufacturing manager.

· Perform rework and repair operations on nonconforming material.

· Perform preventative maintenance to all equipment.

· Perform safety and housekeeping duties to ensure a safe working environment.

Housing Production Technician Necessary Skills & Experience:

· Must have High School Diploma or GED

· Must have two years industrial experience, a metal working, welding, machining background with lathes, mills, and surface, O.D., I.D. grinders, and/or training in machining, welding, or mechanical assembly.

· Prefer hand mig welding capability

· Must be able to use precision measuring instruments such as: snap gages, height gages, and micrometers.

· Must understand and be able to use basic math, fractions, basic algebra, decimals, and metrics.

· Must be able to read, understand, and use Manufacturing Instruction Guides.

· Must be flexible and work in a team environment.
