JOB DUTIES

  • Operates and maintains electrical power plants
  • Performs mechanical, electrical and instrumentation functions
  • Analyze plant equipment and system operating characteristics to determine operational condition
  • Repairs or overhauls generating equipment and associated systems components
REQUIREMENTS

Those who want to serve must first take the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery, a series of tests that helps you better understand your strengths and identify which Army jobs are best for you.


TRAINING

Job training for prime power production specialist requires 48 weeks Advanced Individual Training. Part of this time is spent in the classroom and part in the field with on-the-job instructions.

Some of the skills you’ll learn are:

  • Maintaining 500 KW and higher generators
  • Performing electrical assessments
  • Maintaining facilities maintenance
