Position Summary

Required: Candidates must live in Citrus County, Florida.

*The Anti-Drug Coalition looking to recruit a Prevention Program Assistant to support our work on drug and alcohol prevention among Middle and High School students, as well as other Coalition initiatives. The Program Assistant will work with the Executive Director to help further the mission of the Coalition by helping to execute Environmental Strategies and Evidence-Based practices in Citrus County. Potential tasks and responsibilities are listed below.

Skills and Experience Required

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written(examples required)
  • Demonstrated ability to write clear, engaging communications material
  • Experience and proficiency with social media, including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, and have knowledge of other software programs to do presentations/flyers such as Powerpoint, Publisher, or similar applications
  • Be able to lead a small group of students in a classroom setting

Responsibilities and Tasks

  • Must be able to lift approximately 50 lbs for loading/unloading with event supplies.
  • Work approximately 20 hours a week, or 80 hours a month, supplying all necessary paperwork of work times/descriptions, along with supporting documentation.
  • Regular communication with the Executive Director, responding to all emails, texts, and phone calls in a timely manner, and communication with others outside the ADC in a similar way, as to represent the ADC in a most professional and courteous style.
  • Work with coalition leadership to further the mission of the Coalition and follow the local Logic Model.
  • Represent Coalition alongside local Prevention Partners, which includes Schools, Law Enforcement, Health-Related Agencies, and others by working with these other agencies in joint activities and events.
  • Visit and engage the community in sponsoring youth activities such as Friday Night Done Right (FNDR), No Joke Campaign, Red Ribbon Week, Teen Town Hall, and other Coalition initiatives.
  • Ensure the collection of local data through the use of intercept surveys as directed by Community Coalition Alliance (CCA), the funding source for the coalition activities.
  • Assist with preparation for events in the community such as local festivals and expos.
  • Connect with local youth serving agencies such as 4-H, church youth groups, YMCA., and others.
  • Visit and engage local businesses with We ID Clings while thanking them for helping to curb under-age drinking and encouraging them to display anti-drug/alcohol messages.

This is an hourly position based in Citrus County, Florida. There will be some work in the Inverness office, but the larger portion of this position will be in the community at various locations such as schools, non-profit agencies, and at events. Background Check and Drug Test will be required by anyone hired for the position.

Salary: $11.00 to $14.50 /hour

The  Anti-Drug Coalition of Citrus County, Inc. is a non-profit prevention coalition made of concerned community members who have joined together to address substance abuse issues in Citrus County Florida.  Founded in 2003, the Anti-Drug Coalition is made up of 12 different sectors of the community ranging from providers, businesses, the public school system, to local law enforcement, municipalities, faith-based organizations, social service agencies, and others.

 While the ADC is concerned about all substance abuse in Citrus County, our primary focus is prevention efforts among youth with underage drinking, marijuana use, and other substances.  We advocate for raising our kids in safe, healthy environments, where they can be protected from the harmful effects of drugs and alcohol. We believe  we all have a responsibility in keeping Citrus County a great place to live.  We know that by collaborating together, and utilizing community resources, we can make  a positive impact in our county.
