PURPOSE

 

The PLC Programmer will be responsible for the coordination and maintenance of PLC projects involving our mine monitoring, personnel tracking and Automated Longwall system in accordance with all state and federal regulations. 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Execute and direct the work schedule and strategy of the Mine Management team.  

 

  • Maintain effective communication with operating units and provide assistance whenever requested.  Consult with operations management personnel on operational issues and challenges.

 

  • Maintain awareness of all applicable federal, state, local, and MSHA regulations.

 

  • Stay abreast of technological, state-of-the-art advances.  Remain current on industry best practices and technology.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

A minimum of 2 years of experience is preferred.  A background that includes underground expertise.  Hold a West Virginia coal mine electrical card (West Virginia OMSL and MSHA).  Must have the ability to follow and understand electrical schematics and perform electrical troubleshooting.  Knowledge of Solid State Circuitry.  Ability to write and make changes to PLC programs.  Knowledge in Ladder Logic and Rockwell Software in preferred. Must be a United States Citizen.

 

 

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

 

  • Multiple projects will be underway at the same time with priorities that often change.  This necessitates the ability to plan, organize, and deal effectively with changing priorities, and the ability to effectively manage multiple projects concurrently.

 

  • Effective oral and written communication skills are necessary because of regular contact and exchange with senior management.  It is essential to write clearly and intelligently. 

 

  • Excellent technical skills, with the ability to recognize and deal with complex and difficult mining conditions are critical.

 

  • Must have a methodical approach to problem solving with the ability to identify, explain and accomplish results in a timely and correct manner.

 

  • The successful candidate will assume responsibility for decisions and actions while expeditiously moving business forward.
