Baltimore Plant Manager

The Plant Manager is vital in the overall operation of the plant and facilities. Plant Managers lead and direct the team necessary for the day-to-day operations and production of our asphalt products. This position manages day-to-day operational functions of the Baltimore (Curtis Bay area) asphalt emulsion plant to ensure that quality product is delivered on time and within specifications to all customers. Provides effective leadership to all plant  personnel and ensures that all Corporate and Safety policies and procedures are adhered to.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Direct and supervise all plant personnel
  • Determine personnel schedules and coordination of work
  • Ensures product compliance with all company and all governmental agency (local, state, and federal) regulations
  • Ensures environmental compliance with all company and all governmental agency (local, state, and federal) regulations
  • Plans and oversees all preventative maintenance, maintenance projects, repairs, and contractors
  • Work to achieve annual budget and control plant costs
  • Follows and promotes all safety policies and practices
  • All other duties as assigned


Work Environment
This position requires its responsibilities to be performed in an asphalt emulsions manufacturing plant. Plants are outdoors and may require that work be done in adverse weather condition. Work conditions may involve exposure to hot materials, chemicals, fumes, dust, odors, gases, and other substances used in a construction environment.

Skills and Education - Required

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • Minimum of three (3) years in management and/or leadership position
  • Minimum of five (5) years in construction, manufacturing, or production
  • Basic understanding of chemical and mechanical engineering
  • Solid math and reading skills, and the ability to understand technical manuals
  • Aptitude for learning new tasks and skills


Job Requirements

  • Ability work in and lead a team. as well as the ability to work independently without close supervision
  • Must be able to work overtime as needed
  • Willingness to be flexible in scheduling
  • Ability to safely lift at least 50 pounds, occasionally enter confined spaces, tolerate scents common to fuels and asphalt operation
  • Ability to perform work which requires frequent and regular movement of wrists, hands, and/or fingers
  • Ability to perform work which requires frequent and regular walking and standing
  • Ability to see, hear, talk, and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity


WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Travel: Occasional travel required

Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be
able to:

Perform sedentary work, needing to lift heavy objects and adjust pressure on large
valves and other mechanical work requiring heavy physical exertion. Work setting is a
mixture of office and production plant environments and may involve potentially
hazardous conditions within plant and chemical usage and exposure to chemicals,
fumes, dust, odors, gases and other substances used in a construction environment.
Must have the ability to see, hear, talk and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity.
Operate standard office equipment including a computer, copier, fax, phone and other
similar office equipment.
