Job Summary

We care deeply about providing excellent care to our patients during therapeutic treatment to facilitate their healing process. Join our team as a physical therapist to give one-on-one care to our patients using the latest evidence-based techniques. We believe in collaborative work but also ensure that our therapists retain their autonomy to provide individualized care to patients. You will be challenged while working with a variety of patients, some of whom have acute injuries and others who have degenerative illnesses and associated loss of function. Job Responsibilities
  • Assess the mobility of patients using a range of tests and utilize the results to develop a patient care program and a therapy timeline.
  • Carry out therapeutic interventions using standard solutions and the latest evidence-based techniques that appropriately address a patient's specific needs and concerns.
  • Monitor patient progress in detailed reports and provide regular updates to patients, family members, physicians, caregivers and other therapists involved in the patient's care.
  • Provide a continuum of care by collaborating with primary care physicians and specialists regarding patient care.
  • Educate patients, families and caregivers on exercises that complement therapy sessions and facilitate improved range of motion.
  • Supervise physical therapy aides and assistants, and work collaboratively with fellow therapists in the office to maintain quality care.
  • Participate in continuing education and other professional development opportunities to remain knowledgeable about new and emerging therapies.
  • Maintain patient records in accordance with federal and state regulations and company policy to ensure excellent standard of care.
Job Skills & Qualifications
Required
  •  Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy (MS preferred)
  •  2 to 4 years' experience in physical therapy
  •  Current state-issued license to practice
  •  Current CPR certification or completion upon hire

For 25 years Kelsar has been a physical therapy office clinic that honors above all else the importance of patient-focused treatment, supporting our community, and maintaining a family environment where patients and therapists are respected and cared for. We’re not your “typical” physical therapy clinic. Today the long-standing, well-respected practice offers 40-minute 1 on 1 private sessions. Our offices in Norwich and Stonington have private treatment rooms with access to our adjoining open gyms. In addition, our Stonington office includes a full Pilates studio (and Barre equipment) with group and private sessions led by our certified Stott Pilates instructor and our certified APPI instructor. Our pilates studio and the instructors were nominated this month as one of New London County's "Best Pilates Studios" in the New London Day . In the last 2 years, the practice has expanded both the Stonington and Norwich clinics to accommodate our growth t! hat has come from an increased need in the community for specialized care.Several of our therapists specialize in manual techniques, including craniosacral, visceral manipulation, neuromeningeal manipulation, myofascial release, muscle energy, Jones strain counterstrain, pelvic floor therapy and women’s health. Two therapists specialize in orthopedic physical therapy, one of whom is a certified Pilates instructor through the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute and a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. While we’re willing to train therapists unfamiliar with these techniques, know that Kelsar values the individual skills, knowledge and needs of its therapists. Above all, we want our therapists to focus on our patients and their overall well-being.We’re looking for a therapist with 2 or more years of experience. Full or part time. Preference may be given to manual or orthopedic therapists, or those interested in becoming one. Therapists with other specialties are also encouraged to apply who could complement our patient-centered care and help Kelsar to provide a more robust set of offerings to our patients and community. Because continuing education is paramount at Kelsar, reimbursement for courses is offered.Know that at Kelsar you will be valued.
