General Summary
The Paralegal, Privacy Operations will be a member of Discovery’s global Privacy Office and will focus on supporting the continuing development and implementation of Discovery’s global Data Protection Program, including compliance with the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and other data protection laws and regulations around the world (“Data Protection Laws”). The role will manage critical operations of the Data Protection Program, working closely with other members of Discovery’s global Privacy Office, as well as business stakeholders in the US around the globe.
Overview of the Role
The Paralegal, Privacy Operations will be a member of Discovery’s global Privacy Office and will:
• support creation and maintenance of personal data inventories and data mapping for Discovery’s global business operations, with a principal focus on the US, Canada and LatAm;
• help support implementation and operation of consumer data request workflows under CCPA, PIPEDA, and other privacy legal frameworks to ensure request fulfilment is handled in a manner that is consistent with regulatory timelines and protective of the valued relationship with our Discovery customers;
• assist the business in carrying out privacy impact assessments relating to new business projects which involve processing of personal information;
• assist with the creation of privacy documentation, notices, templates, playbooks and checklists;
• assist in data protection-related due diligence of vendors processing personal information on Discovery’s behalf;
• assist with gathering information to respond to requests from regulators;
• assist with the implementation of the Privacy Office’s Work Plan ensure successful delivery of identified data protection compliance milestones;
• assist with reporting metrics on Discovery’s Data Protection Program to monitor and improve program performance;
• support the Privacy Office’s training program, including assisting with the development and delivery of content for privacy training;
• assist with providing data protection guidance to business teams across the organization;
• administer Discovery’s privacy program management software tool and other tools used by the Privacy Office to manage DPIAs, data maps and inventories, consumer rights requests and other privacy program compliance processes;
• act as one of the Privacy Office’s key points of contact for the business;
• carry out ad hoc administrative tasks for the Privacy Office.

Qualifications:
• BA/BS degree from an accredited college/university with strong academic credentials required.
• Professional qualifications in compliance program management and/or data protection laws, such as the CIPP/US or CIPM Certification preferred but not required.
• Working knowledge of CCPA, PIPEDA, GDPR and other global data protection laws and regulations around the world strongly preferred;
• Prior experience with compliance frameworks and methodologies and compliance program management strongly preferred;
• Good understanding of computer systems, databases and how personal data is stored and transferred preferred;
• Excellent ICT skills with good working knowledge of G Suite, MS Word, Excel, Smartsheet, PowerPoint
• Fluency in Spanish and/or French in addition to English is desirable but not essential
