About this Opportunity
In addition to exceptional performance as an Options Specialist, the Options Senior Specialist will process higher complexity work escalated from the Core Applications Team to support Product Engagement Managers in securing large project business by quoting unique product solutions.
What You'll Do

- Quote a broad product vocabulary, including new product designs with no existing foundation.
- Act as a mentor and role model for Options Specialists.
- Assist Options Specialists with product and process questions.
- Confer with suppliers and Manufacturing, Design and Development, Purchasing, and Engineering Teams to develop solutions for custom product requests.
- Involve internal experts to research new sources of materials and manufacturing capabilities.
- Adopt the latest tools and technology.
- Clearly document and communicate options solutions using the appropriate tools.
- Create product descriptions and pricing in accordance with Work Instructions.
- Ensure all supporting information is captured and available for the broader Options Team.
- Interpret specifications provided by customers, designers, architects, dealers, and sales, and convert their custom product specification into beneficial product solutions. You'll propose new or alternative solutions as needed to help our sales and dealer teams win.
- Visit customer sites to clarify specifications. You will also participate in mock-ups and product installation to ensure all customer needs and expectations are met.
- Participate in financial analysis and value engineering with dealers and sales as part of the bid process.
- Perform ongoing financial analysis on Options projects to maintain targeted margins.
- Participate in the analysis of Options requests to determine products that should be considered for inclusion in the standard product vocabularies.
- Work to define new and repetitive product modification for the broader Applications Team by creating Standard Upcharges.
- Perform additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives.

- A Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent professional experience.
- Four years of experience in the contract office furniture industry working directly with customers.
- Extensive knowledge of Herman Miller products.
- Customer-service skills and mindset.
- Accuracy, productivity, and attention to detail.
- A high level of creativity, resourcefulness, good judgment, and motivation.
- Communication (interpersonal, verbal, writing, and presentation) skills.
- Prioritization and project management skills to be task-oriented and work with limited direction.
- Competency in the areas of design, sketching, and drawing.
- Competency in conceptualizing unique product solutions and highly developmental products with the ability to translate specifications into the appropriate systems.
- The ability to use office automation, communication, software, and tools in the Herman Miller office environment.
- The ability to effectively negotiate.
- A positive attitude and the ability to participate in a team environment.
- The ability to perform all essential job functions of the position with or without accommodations.
