Position Summary:

The objective of the operator specialist is to generate new sales of Eco-Products’ line of single use disposable foodservice products with broad line, paper and jan/san distributors as well as end-users. This will be an outside sales position with a focus on operators and direct-sales accounts (i.e. stadiums, corporate campus’s and universities, etc.).

 

Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities:

  • Work alongside Regional Sales Managers, brokers, distributor representatives and Boulder corporate team
  • to target and assist high volume accounts in the adoption of Zero Waste practices using Eco-Products’
  • disposables
  • Develop new customer relationships and grow existing operator purchases by selling a bundle of sustainable
  • packaging and marketing services
  • Make sales presentations to all customers on an agreed-upon and consistent basis
  • General understanding of foodservice distribution and disposable markets
  • Develop a deep understanding of the local realities of recycling and composting in the region, including composter acceptance of compostable packaging.
  • Represent Eco-Products at foodservice and Zero Waste focused conference and meetings
  • With the assistance of the corporate team, develop a working knowledge of local and state policy to assist customers with compliance
  • Willingness to travel, including overnight trips
  • Reside in the sales territory - Southern CA
  • Seek and develop new business; identify prospective customers by utilizing national account data, as well as, follow up on leads from existing clients, attending trade shows and conferences
  • Keep informed on new products, pricing, and other general program and industry information
  • Serve as a consultant to both prospects and clients looking to strengthen their commitment to sustainable packaging and waste diversion goals, including implementation of waste diversion programs
  • Work with and train brokers as needed making joint calls on pre-approved operators
  • Develop and expand relationships with compost manufacturers in the region, and drive forward increased acceptance of compostable foodservice packaging at compost operations
  • Report monthly sales activities and business related matters to Regional Sales Manager and Director of Sales at the end of each month
  • Answer customers' questions about products, prices, availability, and product uses. Provide basic product information and practical training to distribution personnel
  • Be informed of market conditions, product innovations, and competitors' products, prices, and sales
  • Perform administrative duties, such as preparing price quotes, customer sales reports and preparing presentations for customers
  • Create and present effective presentations that successfully communicates Eco-Products’ value proposition and services as part of our category solution
  • Other duties to be assigned

 

Candidate Requirements:

  • Ability to build strong relationships with all points of sales contact
  • Ability to self-manage remotely including strong planning and time management skills
  • Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong customer facing skills with emphasis to negotiate win/win situations
  • Must be willing to work independently while also being a strong team player
  • Demonstrate ability to interact and cooperate with all company employees
  • Maintain professional internal and external relationships that meet company core values.
  • Desired Education Level: BS/BA degree from an accredited college or university.
  • 1-5 years of progressive sales experience preferably in the food service industry.
  • Preferred: Some level of knowledge of Zero Waste operations and organics recycling in the region.
