MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the improvement of day-to-day operations in a rapid-growth environment, ensuring on-time delivery of accurate customer orders containing exceptional quality fresh food.
  • Work collaboratively with FreshRealm and a connected team of food makers and food carriers.
  • Support the operation by the right numbers, every day, all day. Use the numbers to assure the above and continuously identify areas for improvement.  Use of the existing operating systems and management to accurately plan and evaluate the workload, fulfillment processes, associated labor force, and supplies needed to continuously improve the daily processes.
  • Support management of daily operations and execute workarounds, as necessary, to protect the customer experience while queueing-up continuous improvements to prevent recurrences.
  • Execute against a roadmap of initiatives that will iteratively and rapidly enable growth while ensuring consistency across the operation, including:
  • Maintain exceptional customer experience standards across the operation
  • Ensure alignment of operational capacity with demand forecasts
  • Engage the entire team in the execution of continuous improvement events, co-developed with the Food Safety & Quality lead.
  • Collaboration with the team members in an appropriate manner, not releasing confidential company matters to outside customers, suppliers, or service personnel.
  • Practicing Federal, State, and Local transportation guidelines and laws to ensure all food carriers are in compliance and not putting FreshRealm, LLC at risk.
  • Ensure that the GMP of all facility equipment and structure is in full working order, or seek direction and approvals from the Plant Manager to obtain this objective in a timely manner.  This is to ensure the building is in the safest, best performance, and most efficient use of the facility. All GMP’s must be verified as being in compliance on a daily basis.
  • Collaborate and support all quality systems and practices, including the support of verifying all SOP documentation is accurate, used properly, and/or gets updated promptly for all operations roles.  All Operations personnel will partner with the Quality personnel on-site at the plant to ensure the best products are produced and shipped.
  • Participate daily in all Gemba Walk practices to ensure the plant is in compliance with all standards that we will be audited for.
  • Assist in and support all training and monitoring of the warehouse team to perform all functions according to the SOPs for this area.  All personnel will have documented training records (initially and bi-annually) and each person’s performance must be verified as having fully understood each effective SOP practice. 


QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB

Skills and Requirements

  • Manufacturing experience is a plus
  • Knowledge and experience supporting lean operations (mfg/fulfillment/distribution) and continuous improvement programs
  • Systemic thinker; value-stream and root-cause analysis-driven * High-performance management
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly evaluate options, apply sound judgment, and engage teams to deliver results
  • Bias toward immediate action; iterate for improvements & optimization
  • Strong organizational, time management, and project management skills
  • Strong presentation and relationship management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, written and verbal, at all levels of management
  • Passion for changing the food system demonstrated by an understanding of the current challenges and active participation in change

Experience / Education

  • Bachelor’s degree with business or lean manufacturing focus preferred  
  • 2+ years experience in Supporting Operations Management
  • 1+ years successfully supporting operations through rapid growth and scaling, including the management of employees, partners, and vendors.
  • 2+ years in a direct-to-consumer fulfillment operation * 1+ years with food preparation, storage, fulfillment, and/or transportation a plus
  • Advanced proficiency with spreadsheets (MS-Excel & Google Sheets), including pivot-tables/- charts, graphing, statistical analysis

Overview

The Operations Manager in will report to the Assistant Plant Manager who will plan, build and manage the Food Packer fulfillment center operations to consistently deliver on-time, accurate customer orders containing exceptional quality fresh food in the innovative FreshRealm Meal Kits. The Manager will support in bringing eCommerce fulfillment center expertise and lean practices, combined with strong quality systems experience, to passionately engage a warehouse team to co-create a new era in fresh food delivery.
