The Occupational Health Physician will serve as the onsite clinic leader at our facility in Oak Ridge, TN overseeing clinical care in the facility and working with the interdisciplinary team to ensure quality care while implementing appropriate clinical policies, procedures and programs.
Responsibilities:
- Work with the client's administration regarding staff management, quality assurance activities, education, and training for onsite emergency staff.
- Supervise onsite clinical staff.
- Work with the client's workplace hazard control programs, including identifying specific exposure hazards or patterns of injury.
- Conduct workplace health audits and present findings.
- Evaluate injuries and illnesses and recommend care.
- Review and recommend medical equipment and supplies to be used as needed by the client's business units.
- In collaboration with the client's Health Services Manager (HSM), help identify, implement, and manage a company-wide medical surveillance program.
- Annual review of the occupational medical program and updates, as required.
- Review existing programs and procedures to determine which changes are required for compliance with regulatory requirements (OSHA, DOT, DOE) and best medical practices.
- Develop EH&S and other related program policies and protocols.
- Approve first-aid protocols and oversee the AED program.
- Assist in developing health and safety training, education and prevention programs.
- Determine physical exam components in terms of what is legally required, what is recommended by official agencies, and what has persuasive medical justification.
- Establish procedures for employees to complete incident and exposure reports with accident/illness reports and provide this data as part of the medical record.
- Assist management in the development and implementation of a medical emergency disaster plan.
- Provide oversight and implement a drug and alcohol testing program following applicable government regulations, DOE orders, and other client requirements.
- Review operations of the client's Health Services Clinic, medical surveillance activities, and medical case management.
- Provide medical director oversight for all client clinic operations, including self-performed and subcontracted clinic services and serve as the Medical Review Officer (MRO) as needed.
- Perform all activities under the client's programs, policies, and procedures, including, but not limited to, Quality Assurance; Environment, Safety and Health; and Training.
- Interface with other medical organizations at ORNL, Y-12, and other facilities as needed.
- Serve as the client's subject matter expert in the area of occupational medicine, serve as supervising physician for clinical staff.
- Guide the client's management on occupational medicine-related topics.
- Serve as a technical medical resource on various health issues that may arise due the type of work/associated history of sites where work is performed.
- Provide medical advice for the administration of Benefit Plans, Labor Relations, and the Legal and Risk Management departments for occupational health topics.
- Provide non-confidential medical information on a need-to-know basis designated client representatives.
- Collaborate with client departments, such as Radiological Control, Industrial Hygiene, Industrial Safety, and Health Physics, including: Participate in meetings between Medical Directors from collocated facilities.
- Discuss ongoing and planned work activities.
- Help identify the chemical, radiological, and physical hazards associated with the work.
- Assist in health (e.g., epidemiological) studies sponsored by the DOE.
- Gain familiarity with work activities and potential health hazards that are encountered onsite.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the Safety Systems and Services Manager.
Qualifications:
- Degree of Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) from a U.S. accredited institution.
- Valid license in TN.
- Occupational medicine experience.
- Must have BLS certification for providers.
Final compensation offered will be determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience and qualifications.
