SCOPE:

The Medical Administrative Assistant will often be the first person with whom a patient communicates upon entering the medical facility. The Medical Administrative Assistant is responsible for assisting medical personnel and staff in support of medical services to an identified Population at Risk (PAR) in an on-site emergency or temporary facility setting. This position will report to a designated on-site medical provider.

This will be a reoccurring assignment for one week each month, Monday through Friday from 5:00 am to 5pm.

All services shall be provided in accordance with established standards, principles, and ethics of the profession, applicable professional specialty organizations, and the high-quality standard for which CHS is recognized.

LOCATION: Dilley, TX

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform and/or provide direction and support for the following services:

• Provide medical administrative assistant services to preserve the health of Population at Risk (PAR) to include establishing and maintaining processes to receive patients that present for medical care, assist providers and support staff
• Maintain patient waiting areas
• Assists with the emergent health needs of patients and obtain data
• Coordinates with other members of the medical team
• Records and maintains patient information in accordance with standard protocols, and the Privacy Act.
• Identifies and records signs and symptoms of physical and mental conditions.
• Thoroughly exercises skill in initiative, judgment, problem-solving and decision-making on a daily basis.
• Makes independent judgments and prioritizes workload.
• Demonstrates proven success in stressful environments.
• Protects patients' privacy through confidentiality, infection control procedures, assuring consistent medication administration, and assuring proper storage and maintenance procedures for all equipment and supplies
• Other duties and projects as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must be able to multi-task, be detail-oriented, be organized and have excellent verbal and communication skills
• 1 year of Medical Administrative Assistant in a medical facility in an administrative capacity
• Flexibility is required due to potential shift changes based on operational needs and/or command priorities.
• Clean criminal background check

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Medical Assistant Certification
• Current certification in Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
• Experience with medical evacuation procedures
• Familiarization with medical terminology is preferred

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

• May participate in interdepartmental project groups or task forces to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems and maintain a specific level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, new task efforts, contract awards, and new policy requirements.
• Performs duties in a safe manner. Follows the corporate safety policy. Participates and supports safety meetings, training, and goals. Ensures safe operating conditions within an area of responsibility. Encourages co-workers to work safely. Identifies "close calls" and/or safety concerns to supervisory personnel. Maintains a clean and orderly work area.
• Assists in the active implementation of company initiatives to ensure compliance with OSHA VPP, ISO, JCAHO, AAAHC, and other mandated regulations/standards.
• May serve on the OSHA VPP, Safety, and Wellness Committees.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
• Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time.
• May require bending, stooping and lifting up to 30 lbs.
