Talgo, Inc. is seeking an experienced Mechanic to join the team in Milwaukee, WI.
 

Major Job duties and responsibilities:
 

  • Involves but not limited to installation, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of Subway Rail car and systems as directed. This position will also involve daily inspections of vehicle.
  • Welding includes electric arc, gas, soldering, brazing, heating and cutting equipment, components and systems and the interpretation of maintenance and operational manuals and general housekeeping requirements.
  • Specific tasks but not limited to: Inbound inspection, diaphragms, curtains& rollers, removal of seats, apply emergency equipment, drop ceiling panels, renew door operator, windows, air brake valves/hoses. Install seats, change wheels, repair& install seats, work interior/exterior trim, outbound inspection, inspect trucks, vestibule. Test air brake/door seals, Q.C Repairs, apply emergency windows, body& side doors.
  • Performs turnaround/layover maintenance: Air brake test per AMT III, inspect entire truck, all hoses, pipes, shoes/pads, safety appliances, exterior hardware, vestibule components, coupler, handbrake, interior hardware and sleeping accommodations. Gauge wheels for condemning limits. Change shoe pads if needed.

Required Skills/Qualification:
 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Certificates/license:
  • Air brake class C
  • Air Brake Class BL
  • Passenger Single Car Air Brake Tests (Freight-Selected Positions)
  • Passenger Single Car Air Brake Tests (Passenger-Selected Positions)
  • AMT II Class B
  • Knowledge of HAZCOM, equipment/system specifications, lock out/tag out, soldering, brazing, heating and cutting equip. Oxygen/Acetylene welding.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Organizational skills with attention to detail.

  • Must have good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to function as a team member, and adapt when independent work is required
  • Demonstrate initiative, leadership, and analytical skills
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Must be able to take and pass a pre-employment drug test
  • Must be able to successfully pass a background check including MVR records
