Marketing Internship (Remote)

Job Description:

Interning with us has been described as "unforgettable internship where I had a fantastic time."   We’re looking for an intern who wants to expand their skills and build their marketing experience and demonstrate putting in place key marketing capabilities - you’ll be helping us build out a marketing function in the company we acquired https://atozinsuranceonline.com/ as well as the company we started.

We’re acquiring insurance agencies and the agency we just bought has relied on sales to grow and has no marketing function.   You'll be able to show a measure of where the company was before you started and when you finished from a marketing perspective so you can point to demonstrable results in your resume and interviews for full-time roles. You'll learn more in this summer than a year in school. This is intended to be a part-time internship lasting 1 semester.  However some interns enjoy and learn so much from the experience they ask to stay on a 2nd semester and we have allowed that for high-performers.
This is an unpaid internship.

We have 2 parts of our business - commercial (b2b) and personal (b2c). Personal is the largest today (about 75%) but we're working hard to grow our commercial having just hired several people.  You'll be working on both types of marketing.  Most companies wouldn’t give student interns anywhere close to the scope and responsibility that we will - many internships remain fairly theoretical, however, I’m confident in a smart student doing a great job and we can guide you along the way to success.  You'll report to the CEO.  The founders are both experienced investors, operators, and entrepreneurs who have complementary skills & experiences.  1 founder has a Harvard Business School case written on them and both have ~20 years of experience.

Types of activities
If you already have good marketing experience as a contributor of a team this will be experience that shows you can lead and own the process beginning to end.  You'll have great responsibility.   The areas you'll work on include

  • Marketing Plan. We have a draft marketing plan but are looking for someone to build it out further
  • Marketing Analytics - where are our leads coming from? our sales? how is our website traffic growing and what sources?  how is our social media tracking?  what marketing tactics are working best and worst for us?  Build tracking into our sales.  We have the software tools but need someone to take ownership, setup and report.
  • Marketing materials and events - inventory our materials and identify gaps we need to fill in order to grow the 2 parts of our business - commercial (b2b) and personal (b2c)
  • Email marketing - massive potential to scale sales and retention
  • Social media - great potential.  We need to put a structure and process in place
