Job Description:

This is an overnight operations, required availability is based on two shifts: 3rd shift from 10pm to 7:30am and/or 3:00am to 12:00pm (non-negotiable).
 

Seeking candidates with Industrial Experience.
 

SUMMARY

Plans, directs, and coordinates activities concerned with design and modification of Talgo equipment and machinery by performing the following duties. Recommends and implements improvements to modification of trainsets processes, methods and controls. Coordinates the launch of new and revised products. Priorities include process improvement, problem resolution, project management and employee training.
 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.

  • Working with the Maintenance team, focus on improving reliability of bot the Series 6 and Series 8 train sets.
  • Establishes processes, standards, policies and procedures for installation, modification, quality control, testing, inspection, and maintenance of Talgo manufactured equipment.
  • Implements world class continuous improvement processes, such as lean, autonomous maintenance, cellular manufacturing, statistical techniques, pull production, ISO and 5S.
  • Researches and implements potential design improvements in Talgo manufactured equipment and coordinates with our design engineering organization in Spain to implement these improvements.
  • Ensures Talgo equipment matches the desired engineering configuration.
  • Implements a local design and liaison engineering process.
  • Investigates equipment failures and produces reports.
  • Failure analysis and reporting.
  • Proposes modifications for equipment improvement.
  • Finds replacement parts for obsolete material.
  • Develops; maintenance registers, technical documents, Department reports and Customer reports.
  • Acts as technical expert and manages projects.
  • Represents Talgo's technical interests at industry associations and regulatory agencies.
  • Participates in development of local, regional and national safety standards.
  • Collaborates with Maintenance Manager to ensure consistent compliance with all safety and Talgo regulations.
  • Designs, develops, tests or sources and cost-justify various tools, machinery and equipment for recommended maintenance methods.
  • Apprises supervisor of all recent railroad technological advances and industry standards.
  • Informs Maintenance department of all technical information regarding trainsets from Patentes Talgo (Spain).
  • Provides applicable reports, quotes and technical information to our customers, as required.
  • Assists in development of Quality Assurance program.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelors of Science degree (B. S.) from four-year college or university in Engineering Management or Industrial Engineering (required)
  • Master's in Engineering Field preferred
  • 3 to 5 years’ experience solving complex mechanical/electrical systems problems in a maintenance / manufacturing environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferably, in Railway industry.

COMMUNICATION AND LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community
  • Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors
  • Bilingual - English and Spanish, a plus

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to apply all engineering mathematical operations to tasks, such as:

  • Statistical process control
  • Dynamic analysis
  • Vibration analysis

  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Must be able to take and pass a pre-employment drug test
  • Must be able and willing to undergo a criminal background check
  • Must be able to travel domestically and internationally per operational needs on a frequent basis
