Major responsibilities are as follows:
The Packaging Machine Operator is responsible for performing duties to set-up and operate food pouching, labeling, and packaging equipment as is consistent with specifications.
- Available overtime on both shifts
- 1ST Shift: M-F 6:15PM-4:15PM $15.35 hourly or 2ND Shift: M-F 2:45PM-12:45AM $15.35 hourly
- Set-up, adjust, and operate horizontal form, fill, and seal equipment.
- Set-up, adjust, and operate labeling and packaging equipment.
- Load and unload roll fed packaging film and other materials.
- Monitor equipment to ensure that is operating correctly and at the appropriate speeds.
- Ensure products produced meet specifications and perform minor adjustments as needed.
- Perform changeovers and basic machine maintenance.
- Report food safety problems and notify supervisor of unusual problems, delays, and/or safety issues.
- Follow SOP’s, GMP’s safety rules, sanitation rules, and good housekeeping procedures.
- Use instructions, hand tools, gauges, and testing instruments.
Requirements:
- The ideal candidate will have prior related experience within a food, beverage, ingredients, filling, canning, and/or packaging environment.
- 1 – 3 years of working knowledge with form, fill, and seal or form, blow, and seal, or Bartlett, or Hayssen pouching, sack filling, bagging, or packaging equipment is preferred.
- Additional experience with wrappers, carton erectors, automatic case packers, in-line scales, metal detectors, and X-ray units is desirable.
- Ability to work in a standing position and lift or move up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation is required.
- Basic mechanical aptitude is essential.
- No diploma is required.
- Must be able to operate controls, read English, and complete forms.
