We are seeking full-time Transportation and Logistics Manager to manage our facility in Madison, AL. The ideal candidate must be detail oriented, have great organizational skills, great customer service skills, and the ability the lead a result driven team.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for 100% of all aspects of the facility Operation, including, but not limited to, all drivers pay and negotiations, full P&L responsibility, daily customer interactions, all decisions regarding the customer's and organization’s requirements. The position has support from a Regional Director. Also, fully responsible for the financial results of the facility operation, including efficiency, cost as well as pricing issues consulting the Regional Director or Executive team, as appropriate.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Organizational Management
- Strong understanding and experience of developing and managing metric orientated logistics/warehousing/inventory management processes and the ability to measure, analyze, improve and control and take ownership of the processes.
- A strong understanding of the financial data and problem-solving ability to ensure financial success of the terminal.
- Knowledge of location’s customers, employees and independent contractors. As well as a clear understanding of the customer requirements.
- A strong understanding of pricing, route analysis, and tracking tool/software to assist in the details with Operations Managers and Operations Supervisors.
- Knowledge in root cause analysis/problem solving and the ability to implement and drive corrective actions and efficiencies.
- Ensures all standard operating procedures are followed in the terminal assigned. Makes the Regional Director aware of any issues or incidents that cannot be resolved at the terminal level with customers, employees, independent contractors, or vendors.
- Understanding of the various verticals currently serviced and the nuisances of each contract including but not limited to: acceptable equipment, pricing, delivery windows, paperwork, OS&D, etc.
- Implements processes and procedures for new projects/work added to the organization's portfolio.
- Ability to work closely with other functions within the organization to ensure customer satisfaction regarding deliverables and timelines.
- Ability to multi-task and work under tight timelines and thrive on day-to-day operational pressure. Accountability and ownership are essential for this role.
- Willingly completes other duties as assigned to meet the strategic and operational and financial objectives of the organization.
Supervision
- Uses strengths-based supervision so each person supervised comes to know his/her own strengths and weaknesses and uses strengths in day-to-day work.
- Ensures that each employee supervised has opportunities for personal and professional growth.
- Provides clear expectations for each supervised staff.
- Models adherence to the organization’s Values and holds staff accountable for knowing and practicing the values.
- Completes coaching regularly of supervised staff and Catalytic Coaching Annual and Mid-year reviews within 4 weeks of due date.
- Provides direct supervision to the Operations Managers, Operations Supervisors and other operations staff as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Efficiently uses operations management software.
- Minimum of bachelor’s degree in business or Logistics Management
- Minimum of five years of experience in Logistics and Transportation Management
- Extensive knowledge of transportation/courier operations and RFP process
- Knowledge of and demonstrated experience with transportation management software. Prior use or similar software package.
- Highly organized, detail oriented.
- Access to reliable transportation. If driving an automobile while on company business, must possess a valid driver’s license in state of residence and auto insurance.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with internal and external individuals, including other professionals in the community.
- Work effectively as a member of a team.
- Effectively communicate to various internal and external audiences in both person and through various electronic media.
- Manage time and work effectively with minimal supervision.
- Effectively manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Frequently (50%+ of time) required to walk and talk or hear.
- Occasionally required to stand; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel object, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
- Frequently (more than 50% of time) lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Frequently (50%+ of time) Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and depth perception.
- Frequently (50%+ of time) exposed to moving mechanical equipment and fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually that of a warehouse.
- Rare (less than 10% of time) travel throughout the region and to the organization's sites outside of the region occasionally.
- Occasional (less than 25% of time) weekend and/or overtime work, primarily at start-up or when taking on new business.
SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to work 8, 10, 12-hour shifts
- On-Call duties are required
- Must have weekend availability
