Licensed Mental Health Counselor

A counselor at NuHope works with our patients to help them overcome and manage different mental and emotional challenges. Their duties include meeting with patients to listen to their problems, diagnosing their mental or emotional disorder and building treatment plans and coping strategies for the patient to follow.

Typical duties and responsibilities as a Counselor include:

· Perform initial evaluations of client needs and develop customized treatment plans.

· Educate staff and clients on stress and trauma coping mechanisms.

· Provide individuals with the resources they need to reach personal goals.

· Monitor client progress and modify their treatment plans as needed.

· Weekly collaboration with our medical team to discuss each patient's opioid deprescribing progress.

· Complete continuing education courses to maintain certification and stay up-to- date on the latest practices.

Requirements and Qualifications:

· Master’s degree in psychology, social work, or a similar field

· State counseling license

· Clinical experience

· Strong critical thinking, communication, and listening skills

NuHope is unique in that we incorporate weekly medical visits, individual and group counseling and physical therapy in an outpatient opioid deprescribing program. NuHope also offers counseling only services with a focus on chronic pain, trauma, grief, anxiety and depression.
