Job Summary
Working on a fast-paced full service immigration practice, there is never a dull moment. At this office, we represent asylum seekers in court and before asylum officers, request bonds for detained individuals, gain cancellation of removal for immigrants who have formed strong ties to this country, adjust status or obtain nonimmigrant visas for newly arrived migrants with multiple background. Assisting the attorney in all legal matters is the main role of the Law Clerk.
Job Responsibilities
- Work on cases related to removal proceedings and appeals before EOIR, helping supporting the attorney with court filings.
- Help prepare applications for cases by interviewing witnesses, reviewing old cases and combing through the evidence of the case.
- Prepare applications for adjustment of status, affirmative asylum, DACA, TPS, U-visa, T-visa, VAWA, O-1 visas, EB-1, and EB-2 NIW, among others.
- Talk to clients and help manage expectations regarding their cases, understanding the process and the clients' needs.
- Attend legal clinics and work with community organizations.
Job Skills & Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree
- Fluency in Spanish
Preferred
- Experience in legal settings
- Background in immigration law
- Fluency in Portuguese or other languages

Considering the likelihood of forms of immigration protection specifically for Venezuelan migrants, such as DED and TPS, the practice is looking to expand to handle the anticipated growth in volume of cases.
