Miami Dade College, Wolfson Campus is now accepting applications for the Laboratory Manager, Fashion Design position. The Fashion Design Laboratory Manager is responsible for the operations, maintenance, security, and improvement of the Fashion Design Lab. The position assists in maintaining an inventory of equipment and supplies, other requested records, and provides instructional assistance to students and faculty.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Orders materials and supplies necessary to support the Fashion Design lab
- Services and maintains workroom for pattern making garment construction and design room for drawing
- Supervises part-time assistants including training, evaluating, and scheduling
- Interfaces with sales representatives, suppliers, and other fashion industry professionals
- Maintains budget reports for supplies with supervision of the chairperson and assures receipt of ordered supplies and equipment
- Participates in departmental recruitment events and assists students when appropriate
- Researches and makes recommendations with regards to fashion equipment
- Establishes fashion lab guidelines
- Installs new equipment and software
- Maintains records of lab use by students and faculty members
- Assures routine cleaning of physical space and equipment
- Oversees and ensures safe and proper use of supplies and equipment
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution and three (3) years of related work experience with a minimum of two (2) years industry and/or teaching experience
- Demonstrated knowledge in application of industrial sewing machine and industrial overlocker
- Working knowledge of threading, oiling and all maintenance and iron stations
- Ability to organize, plan and explain technical and organizational concepts to part-time lab assistants and students
