Janitors and Building Cleaners
A janitor is anyone who cleans or maintains any building such as hospitals, schools, residential accommodation, and office spaces.
Duties:
- Gather and empty trash bins into the dumpster
- Sweep/ Vacuum and mop building floors
- Clean restrooms and restock supplies
- Lock doors to secure buildings
- Ensure clean-up of spills of any hazardous chemical with the appropriate equipment
- Wash windows and glass
- Place orders for cleaning supplies
- Notify managers of any repairs
Qualifications:
- Must have a high school GED or diploma or equivalent
- Must be able to perform basic janitorial tasks such as sweep, vacuum, and mop
- Must be able to know and differentiate types of chemicals to use
- Not required but should have certification that shows competence.
- Must be able to work in a team.
- Must be able to work weekends and holidays.
- Must possess, interpersonal, mechanical, physical and time management skills.
- Must be able to lift at least 50lbs.
Day to Day operations of a Janitor:
- Ensure floors are cleaned and mopped for business operations the next day
- Ensure trash removal
- Ensure restroom supplies are restocked and toilets and sinks are cleaned.
- Be on site for any spills or accidents.
- Maintain the company's cleaning equipment
