Department: Butterfly Wings Productions (RUP) & Operations (SHH)

 

Level of Internship: College Undergraduates, High School students 16-18

 

Hours: 10-15 hours / week (will work around your class & work schedule)

 

Compensation: class credit plus stipend (employment may be offered after internship based on performance)

About Us:

 

Rainbow Universe Pageants (RUP) is an inner beauty pageant system for boys and girls ages 13-24. We are a unique pageant system coach youth to build their confidence levels and increase their self-esteem. We provide pre-pageant workshops for our contestants to prepare for their competition to ensure a smooth run and emotional stability post production.  We also have a membership program for contestants that becomes active after the pageant production. This is to ensure that youth receive continuous personal development services for their overall well-being and personal excellence.  We have a three level pageant structure for our contestants: Preliminary, State and Nationals. Our headquarters is located in the city of Westlake Village, however interns can work remotely from home anywhere in the U.S. 

 

Sandalphon’s Heart and Home is a unique orphanage for youth ages 13-24 that are either homeless, ex-gangsters, have mental health or behavioral issues, victims of sex or human trafficking, or have a major addictions. We use a special healing and rejuvenation method with music and mind, body and spirit pampering.

 

Intern Position:

 

Our mission is to motivate youth to excellence and we want all our youth that cross our path to follow their rainbow, hence the brand style of rainbow and wings. Under the direct supervision of our National Director, RUP & SHH Interns will assist the building or our brand as either a Brand Ambassador, Crisis Hotline Intervention Specialist or Pageant Director.

 

Brand Ambassador Duties:

  • Create and contribute to social media accounts
  • Create marketing campaigns to reach target markets
  • Develop social media strategies
  • Create and implement product marketing campaigns for target markets
  • Measure the conversion rates and other metrics for ongoing campaigns and make adjustments as necessary
  • Create content for blog to attract new clients
  • Engage youth ages 13-24 to spread the word about our unique pageant brand and recruit more contestants and members
  • Hire Brand Ambassador leaders as volunteers across the United States in every state


Pageant Director Duties:

      •  working with and organizing the contestants 

      • advertises the upcoming pageant to get contestants to enter 

      • puts together contestant information kits that include materials that help the girls before      and during the pageant, such as potential interview questions, wardrobe requirements, judging criteria and travel arrangements

     • create the pageant's program, which is distributed to the audience, and 

     • advertise the pageant to bring in audience members

     • provide leadership and direction to staff and committee members and volunteers

     • ability to connect and communicate both verbally and in writing with people from diverse backgrounds or cultures

     • oversees or handles advertising, brochures, pamphlets, fliers and ticket production as well for these events

     • Oversees site setup, vendor placement, performers, caterers

works with the winner, setting their travel, media and personal appearance schedule and coaching her/him to represent that pageant and organization.

   • must decide on a date, time and place for the pageant and secure all the necessary reservations and permits  

   • audio, video and music, must also be lined up and scripted by the coordinator. 

   • in charge of hiring an emcee and putting together a script for the event. 

   • bring on advertisers and sponsors to help pay for the event

 

This position provides a significant opportunity for successful applicants to further develop their academic and professional goals alongside the National Director, and apply relevant knowledge and skills-sets to daily event planning and organizational goals. If the intern should choose to train as a Pageant Director/Event Coordinator he/she will also learn business management and business building skills.

Responsibilities:

 

(50%) Brand and Program Knowledge Development:

 

Learn about all resources, workshops, membership, brand awareness and promotion to connect with other youth business owners, modeling agencies, dance companies, schools and after school programs for youth and parents to recruit contestants, obtain sponsors, secure vendors and hire volunteers.

 

Under the supervision of the National Director, successful candidates will plan, design, and implement business-related strategies, monthly marketing, open call sessions and orientations.

Participate in trainings as related to internship role and additional duties as assigned. Collaborate with community-based organizations, city council members, neighborhood councils, and local business owners

Assist in business-related program assessments, survey design, focus groups, data collection, and analysis

 

(50%) Personal Development: Management/Accounting/Marketing/Communication/etc.

 

Participate in operations and managing of a pageant business, marketing and advertising for recruitment, connections and partnerships. Use social media and other avenues to increase traffic to website and engage our audience and target markets.

 

Participate at large community based events setting up booths to distribute flyers, brochures and other materials

 

Engage in outreach to businesses and our audience and target markets.

Introduction to our Intranet/Extranet software and other business-related software used in running a business.

 

Skill Development and Learning Objectives:

  • Gain experience in brand awareness and promotion
  • Understand the impact of the RUP call to action and vision in practice, increase personal communication skills, and begin to identify and apply business-related techniques
  • Enhance basic knowledge of business management, entrepreneurship, marketing and recruiting strategies, & specific business and occupational information and market trends
  • Gain experience in administrative duties needed in running a business or promoting a brand and coordinating and organization of a membership with several programs.
  • Learn first hand how to prepare and organize a new business using strategic goal planning
  • Enhance and gain hands-on experience specific to intern’s major area of study, this will help intern put his/her education to practice and the ability to apply real-world experience and connect it to theory and education.
  • Become a youth advocate as well as assist in providing services for your peers
  • This internship takes a DEVELOPMENTAL APPROACH, we are here to teach the intern, we don’t expect intern to know everything already. This internship will help develop intern into a professional in the business and community-serving field working with youth.
