Job Responsibilities
- Sell property, casualty, automotive, life, health or other types of insurance to consumers, customizing programs to cover a variety of risks to meet the needs of every individual.
- Meet with clients daily to provide them with information about how to handle a policy claim, how to update policies and how to maintain appropriate records for possible claims.
- Attend programs, seminars and meetings to learn about new services and products, receive technical assistance and learn new marketing and selling skills.
- Create marketing strategies that bring customers to your insurance agency rather than another.
- Guarantee that all necessary paperwork is filled out and filed to put the insurance policy in place.
- Communicate with customers and underwriters to determine which types of insurance are offered and which are most applicable to the specific customer.
- Monitor any claims made to guarantee that both the insurer and the client are compensated fairly.
- Seek new clients through networking and calling lists of prospective clients on a weekly basis.
Job Skills & Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Insurance license from the state you are working in
- Passing scores on state exams that certify you to sell various types of insurance
Preferred
- Bachelor's degree in a field related to insurance or sales
- Flexible schedule and ability to travel
- Experience working for an established insurance agent
Company Description:Hello, my name is Angela Hanson and I’m an Agency Owner for Globe Life Liberty National Division in Alexander City. I’ve been with Globe Life Liberty National Division for 13 years. I started out in the insurance business with no prior insurance experience whatsoever. I did not even think about wanting to work in the insurance industry. My dad was a policyholder and his Agent came by to review his policies with him. At the time, I was unemployed, and he told my dad that Globe Life Liberty National Division was hiring. So, he decided that he wanted me to come in for an interview.
I did not want to work for Globe Life Liberty National Division at all. This is not what I went to college for. This is not what I intended to do with the rest of my life. However, after going and interviewing with the Agency Owner at that time and seeing what Liberty National had to offer as far as income, this was the job that I wanted. It took me three months to get my job at Liberty National Division because there was such a big demand that everyone wanted to work for Liberty National.
I could not have done all the financial things that I have done for my family if it had not been for Globe Life Liberty National Division. I can afford to provide my little girl with all the little things that my parents never could.
