Job Description:
We are seeking an enthusiastic, experienced industrial sewing machine operator to teach and mentor adult students. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching students and providing them with a variety of hands-on experiences in the classroom. We are looking for instructors who have experience working with students, solid communication skills and the ability to solve complex problems in an efficient manner.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide instruction and demonstration of basic stitching as described in the course curriculum including, but not limited to: basic machine operation & maintenance, sewing basic elements, simple project sewing, use of basic patterns, and operation of domestic & industrial sewing machines and overlock machines.
    • In addition, provide mentoring and management of individuals in entrepreneurial programs including quality control.
  • Prepare course material and provide handouts to all the participants and manage all aspects of your class to inspire & teach lifelong skills while motivating your students to learn.
  • Coordinate classroom & “job board” set up, ensure safe and appropriate use of all equipment including coordinating routine machine maintenance and upkeep.
  • Coordinate collection of attendance records for classroom, volunteers and students. Record results of student records for classes taught & monitor journal entries from participants of The Sewing Salon.
  • Represent The Sewing Labs values, emphasizing a positive work environment that is fun and creative.
    • Show pride in your work and a passion for teaching & mentoring others.
    • Communicate information with enthusiasm, clarity and patience.
    • Guide the volunteers to ensure supported learning for all group participants.
