SUMMARY


The function of the foundry electrician is to install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures. This job works in accordance with relevant electrical codes. Troubleshooting electrical breakdowns on equipment which includes switches, fuses, limit switches, proximity switches, light curtains, motor contractors, three phase and units and power supplies. In addition, this position must be able to comply with OSHA standards. 

 

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work in a safe manner to prevent personal injury.
  • Maintain a clean work environment to avoid loss, injury and damage.
  • Close interaction with operations and management personnel to accept job responsibilities/direction.
  • Daily reporting of activities.
  • Follow established shop rules regulations.
  • Responsible for the general electrical maintenance and troubleshooting.  
  • Preventive electrical inspection and reporting activities on all equipment.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities.
  • Perform electrical repairs and troubleshoot repair control voltage.
  • Troubleshoot motors to determine open, short and or bad bearings.
  • Troubleshoot D.C. & A.C.
  • Handle other duties as assigned.

 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Strongly prefer current Journeyman card or the ability to obtain soon after job offer.
  • Ability to wire from scratch motor starters with overloads for various voltages up to 480 VAC.
  • Ability to use a digital multimeter.
  • Knowledge of safety, maintenance practices, knowledge of Foundry equipment and machinery.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of NEC Codes, able to check for blown fuses in circuits and to troubleshoot using RS logix.
  • Knowledge of installing and setting up push button boxes for new equipment or replacing existing equipment and running conduit and pulling wire.
  • Ability to work any shift and work some overtime including daily, weekend and holidays.
