Groundskeeper

We are looking for an energetic Groundskeeper to keep our property grounds functionally and aesthetically sound. You will be responsible for the upkeep and appearance of outdoor areas. The Groundskeeper will maintain flowers, stair paths, and retaining walls. The Groundskeeper will employ insecticides, non-chemical sprays, fertilizers and mulches to optimize condition of greenery. You will keep grounds free from trash, litter, debris, weeds, plant diseases and harmful insects. You will maintain equipment and supplies, and order as needed. Maintenance groundskeepers will be working in numerous outdoor settings where they perform tasks such as mowing lawns, pruning trees and shrubs, maintaining fountains, or cultivating flowerbeds, turf or weed management and landscape design. Work is physically taxing and requires being outdoors in all kinds of weather, sometimes to prevent or repair weather-related issues.
 

To be successful in this role you need to ensure grounds are pleasant—both visually and operatively—at all times, while maintaining equipment. Top candidates are hard-working, meticulous and patient.
 

Groundskeeper Responsibilities:

• Maintaining site landscaping.
• Maintaining lawns, trees, shrubs, flowers, turf and irrigation.
• Fertilizing lawn, trees, flowers and shrubs, and spreading mulch.
• Trimming trees, hedges and shrubs, and preventing and eliminating weeds.
• Operating and maintaining hand tools, such as loppers, saws and shovels efficiently.
• Operating and maintaining trucks.
• Utilizing insecticides, fertilizers and non-chemical sprays to treat diseases.
• Keeping grounds free from trash, litter and debris, and emptying trash receptacles.
• Conducting basic irrigation audit and performing basic irrigation repairs.
• Tend to the seasonal needs of walkways and parking lots, as well as site-specific structures like fountains, seating areas, fences and buildings.
• Inspect natural turf for aeration and drainage issues and prevent bacterial growth in artificial turf.
• Responsible for the length and condition of grasses, greens and other elements of outdoor areas.
• Groundskeepers use powered equipment, such as lawnmowers, rakes, trimmers, chainsaws and snow blowers.

Groundskeeper Education/Requirements:

• High school diploma, GED, or suitable equivalent or associate’s degree or certificate for advanced positions.
• State license, optional certification by Professional Grounds Management Society, Professional Landcare Network and Tree Care Industry Association
• Qualified candidates have field and safety experience
• 1+ year grounds keeping or related experience.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Proficient in using manual and power tools safely.
• Free from allergies that interfere with Groundskeeper duties.
• Ability to follow instructions.
• Available to work overtime.
• Proficient with sending emails.
• Physically agile and dexterous.
