Position Summary:
The Laborer is responsible for performing a wide range of construction related tasks, from very easy to the extremely difficult. Ensures that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed; bringing problems to the attention of the Project Superintendent, Safety Director, or HR Manager.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Cleans and prepares construction sites by removing debris and possible hazards.
- Loads and unloads building materials to be used in the projects.
- Builds or takes apart bracing, scaffolding, and temporary structures.
- Operates or supervises equipment and machines used on projects.
- Assists craft workers with their duties, as requested.
- Follows construction plans and instructions from supervisors and completes assigned tasks.
- Identifies and offers solutions to problems, especially in the area of safety.
- Conducts daily checks of equipment and safe operation procedures.
- Ensures new employees are familiar with WBG safety procedures and training to ensure they understand the job.
- Cleans work areas, machines, or equipment, to maintain a clean and safe job site.
- Follows established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean environment.
- Possesses required small hand tools for the job, i.e.: tape measure, hammer, etc.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervision Received:
Specific Direction: Follows established work procedures. Receives periodic checks for performance. Refers unique questions/conditions to immediate supervisor.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
No supervision: No supervisory responsibilities.
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Must have Valid driver’s license.
- One (1) to three (3) years of construction experience preferred.
- Heavy machinery operator cards are highly recommended.
- Certifications in welding and power actuated tools are a plus.
- Already or willing to become trained in CPR, OSHA 10-Hour certified, and licensed on equipment.
Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Strong work-ethic and willingness to learn and take direction from others.
- Familiarity with power tools and have basic construction skills.
- Skills in carpentry, welding, commercial and/or industrial construction.
- Communication skills.
- Safety conscious.
- Demonstrates the ability to work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds and promote a positive working environment.
