Position Title: EMT-B Clinician / EVO

Department: EMS Foundation
Reports Directly To: Duty Supervisor
Reports Indirectly To: Foundation Chain of Command Assigned Fire Company EMS Foundation Board of Trustees

$16.23 per hour

Summary: The position provides EMT-B Support (BLS) to victims of illness/injury, per established standards of care and in accordance to the current Maryland Medical Protocols for Emergency Medical Services Clinicians, and operation of assigned emergency vehicles in accordance applicable Maryland law

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The list is not all inclusive. Position may require additional duties not listed, as needed, to

accomplish the mission of the EMS Foundation.

  • Provide Basic Life Support (BLS) as appropriate to victims of illness/injury, per established

    standards of care and in accordance to the current Maryland Medical Protocols for

    Emergency Medical Services Clinicians

  • Provide IV Therapy if certified by Harford County EMS Foundation

  • Complete appropriate patient care reports to include the eMeds Elite, Health Insurance

    Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), RMS, and other forms/reports as required

  • Assure that all patient care documentation is complete prior to end of shift and forwarded to

    appropriate facility (ies)

  • Recognize unsafe situations and promptly report same to superiors

  • Maintain all required certifications/licensures for level of EMT-B

  • Ensure readiness of assigned vehicles at beginning and end of shift

  • Conduct regular inventory of assigned transport unit/chase vehicle, with particular attention to

    fluids, and other material subject to expiration, and rotate same to maintain current stock

  • Clean and fuel assigned vehicles daily as part of unit readiness

  • Care for and maintain, within reason, equipment and assigned apparatus; reporting

    deficiencies to proper authority

  • Operate assigned vehicles in safe and reasonable manner, in accordance with applicable

    traffic laws

  • Completion of orientation to assigned Fire Company

  • Conduct self in a professional manner, without regard to situation

  • Submit availability at a minimum bimonthly to coincide with posted schedule

  • Submit accurate hours worked to coincide with posted payroll schedule as required

  • Address all personnel issues to the Operations Supervisor

  • Must comply with applicable safety regulations

  • Knowledge of Harford County Emergency Communication System

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Critical thinking and decision making skills

  • Able to demonstrate the ability to move medical equipment and load, lift, and/or carry patient

  • transport devices across even/uneven terrain, to include steps

  • Successful completion of protocol and skills review

  • Oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff members, volunteer

  • members, and the general public

  • Ability to perform in stressful situations

  • Five (5) years driving experience with a Class C license or higher

  • Ability to pass a pre-employment physical and Drug Screen

    EDUCATION

  • Blood borne/air borne pathogens

  • HAZMAT operation level

    EXPERIENCE

  • Preferred minimum one (1) year as an EMT-B clinician

  • Six (6) months as an Emergency Vehicle Operator

    LICENSE

  • Possession of a valid Maryland automobile driver’s license

  • Copy of MVA driving record

    LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION

  • Must be licensed as an EMT-B clinician in the state of Maryland

  • Possess EVOC certification or equivalent

  • If IV Tech. Must posses IV certification by Harford County EMS Foundation

  • Possess valid CPR card

  • AED certification
