Director of Surgical Services

Sovah Health Danville is looking for a Director of Surgical Services who directs the department's activities and resources to achieve departmental and organizational objectives. The Director provides overall direction and leadership for the Surgical Services Departments (Pre-Procedure Screening, One Day Surgery, OR, Central Processing and PACU).  



Graduate of a Program in Nursing required. Bachelor’s degree required. Master's degree preferred.

Basic Life Support (BLS) American Heart Association required.  Licensure as a Registered Nurse from the Virginia State Board of Nursing or Compact State required.  Five (5) years’ experience in surgical specialty setting required.  Three (3) years’ experience as a full-time perioperative supervisory/management role required.



Develops and implements departmental goals, plans, and standards consistent with the clinical, administrative, legal, and ethical requirements/objectives of the organization.

Directs and evaluates departmental operations, including patient care delivery, information technologies, service level determination, and complaint management, to achieve performance and quality control objectives.

Directs a variety of personnel actions; staff selection (interviewing and hiring), provides orientation, prepares performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, and continuing education initiatives.

Prepares, monitors, and evaluates departmental budgets, and ensures that the department operates in compliance with allocated funding. 

Creates and fosters an environment that encourages professional growth.

Integrates evidence-based practices into operations and clinical protocols.
