WHAT YOU’LL DO AS OUR DIRECTOR OF MARKETING

As our Director of Marketing you will harness the growing energy and demand for our work, and turn it into a next-level organization through the growth strategy you create, pilot, and scale.  You will own, operate, and expand our content verticals. In practice, this means you will be directly accountable for for the sub-functions of marketing, storytelling, product, PR, partnerships, and community management, through which you will:

  • Deepen, grow, and manage the At The Well brand (marketing and storytelling)
  • Own our influence apparatus (product and PR)
  • Manage, grow, and weave together our B:B partnerships and influencer communities (partnership and community management)

1. Deepen, grow, and manage the At The Well brand

  • Develop and execute a holistic marketing strategy: Up until now, our marketing has been ad-hoc. You will take this work up 1000%, going on a learning journey and then creating our first coherent multi-channel marketing strategy and overseeing its implementation.
  • Integrate program and marketing through storytelling: Find and elevate the stories from our network and integrate them through produced videos, campaigns, content, and social media created by our team of contractors and directed by you.
  • Gather, organize and advocate for audience insights: Dive into understanding who our audience is, what they want, and where they’re going. You will create systems that allow us to better understand and serve our audience, and you will serve as the internal advocate for those insights, pushing for programming and products that best serve our community.
  • Supervise influence functions and consultants: Supervise the functions of social media, visual design, web design, video, curriculum - and the contractors that make them possible. You will work with our Chief of Staff to hire and manage three-to-six contracted specialists. You will work in partnership with our Director of Content, who will ultimately report to you in this role.

2. Own our influence apparatus

  • Expand our reach: You will create our influencer acquisition and engagement strategy, designed to expand our reach into the wellness and Jewish spaces 10x. You will decide where we need to be, create the roadmap for how to get there, and execute that plan.
  • Manage research and evaluation for products You will hire and supervise consultants capable of translating our audiences’ desires into tangible recommendations for new products. You will be a critical decision-maker for our product development strategy, and the supervisor in charge of pushing it forward.
  • Build a product marketing engine from scratch: As we grow our physical product line, you will be in charge of creating the sales and marketing engine for these products and integrating it organically into our organizational marketing efforts. You will outline the resources you need, and build the appropriate consultant team to execute this strategy.
  • Oversee sales channels and distribution: As part of our overall influence strategy, you will, over time, build the relationships necessary to distribute our products nationally through online and brick and mortar partners.
  • Lead efforts around paid, partnered, and earned media: As part of our influence strategy, determine and woo the appropriate media partners to grow our audience and brand recognition.

3. Manage, track, grow, and weave together our B:B partnerships and influencer communities

  • Organize and engage our evangelists (B:B influencers): Recruit, organize and manage cohorts of influencers with tailored in-person and digital engagement strategies.
  • Recruit, track and inspire national and regional partners (B:B): Grow and organize our national partners into effective brand evangelists. Lead external-facing partnership engagement, retention, and sales.
  • Growth with Us Long Term: The responsibilities of this role will grow for 2020 to include direct oversight of a full-time physical product manager and up to five part-time contractors that you will help to hire, coach, and train. This role has the ability to evolve into a CMO role over the next two to five years, and preference will be given to candidates able to jump or grow into that capacity sooner.
