Job Summary:

We are seeking a reliable and compassionate Direct Care Staff to join our team and provide care to individuals with special needs in our group home. As a Direct Care Staff, you will be responsible for providing support and assistance to individuals with special needs in their daily activities, including personal care, medication administration, meal preparation, and transportation. You will be expected to maintain a safe and healthy living environment and encourage independence and personal growth in the individuals under your care.
 

Duties and Responsibilities:
 

  • Assist individuals with special needs with their personal care needs, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
  • Administer medication to individuals as prescribed by their healthcare provider.
  • Prepare meals and snacks for individuals and ensure that dietary needs are being met.
  • Assist with transportation to appointments, community activities, and social events.
  • Maintain a clean and safe living environment for individuals.
  • Encourage and support independence and personal growth in individuals under your care.
  • Complete daily progress notes and other required documentation accurately and timely.
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Report any changes in individuals' physical or mental health status to healthcare providers and management.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers and other members of the care team to ensure quality care is being provided.

Qualifications:
 

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Previous experience working with individuals with special needs preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screening.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks such as standing, walking, bending, and lifting.

Working Conditions:
 

  • This position involves working in a group home setting and may require working on weekends, holidays, and overnight shifts.
  • This position may require lifting up to 50 pounds and performing physical tasks such as standing, walking, bending, and lifting.
