We are in search of a dynamic, creative and proven culinary professional with experience specific to seniors, assisted living, long-term care or related fields to join our team.
The Assistant Director will be a Chef who is responsible for planning and preparing quality cuisine for our residents and guests in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and Facility standards.
Specific Job Requirements
- Knowledgeable of practices and procedures as well as the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing functions in a long term healthcare environment.
- Implement and interpret the programs, budgets, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the department
- Perform proficiently in all competency areas including but not limited to: Staff management, department management, patient rights, safety, and sanitation
- Maintains professional working relationships with all associates, vendors, and clients
- Maintains confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
- Understand and follow company policies, guidelines, and procedures
- Displays integrity and professionalism

*Essential Functions
- *Prepare and serve cuisine that is appetizing in both taste and appearance, and appropriate for each resident or guest
- Knowledgeable of ordered diets (i.e., NCS, NAS, 1800 ADA) as well as food consistency
- Ensure food and supplies are in stock and available for weekly menus
- Coordinate and participate in catered events as requested
- Utilize production tools and recipes provided to prepare meals and snacks
- Ensure necessary staff are available and scheduled
- Ensure food service staff are trained in cooking and presentation skills to enhance presentation and quality of food served to patients
- Exhibit excellent customer service and a positive attitude towards patients
- Demonstrate dependable, regular attendance
- Concentrate and use reasoning skills and good judgment
- Communicate and function productively on an interdisciplinary team
- Sit, stand, bend, lift, push, pull, stoop, walk, reach, and move intermittently during working hours
- Read, write, speak, and understand the English language
Education, Experience, and Licensure (Preferred)
- Graduate of an approved American Culinary Federation (ACF) culinary program or have completed another recognized culinary institution
- Experience and knowledge creating specialized cuisine for unique clientele
- 1- 3 years of Food Service Management Experience
- Valid Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) from the ANFP
- One (1) year experience in healthcare, long term, or hospital food service
- Experience in preparing and cooking food in large quantities
- Basic computer knowledge required.
- Ability to utilize a calculator, copier, telephone and personal vehicle.
- Self-motivated individual with good oral and creative writing, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to be on his/her feet for prolonged periods.
- Clean driving record.
