Candidate Responsibilities
Summary: The main function of a business systems analyst is to analyze science, engineering, business and all other data processing problems for application to electronic data processing systems. A typical business systems analyst is responsible for analyzing user requirements, procedures and problems to automate or improve existing systems and review computer system capabilities, workflow and scheduling limitations. Job Responsibilities: Gather requirements from business units and translate those to programmers and developers. Confer with clients regarding the nature of the information processing or computation needs. Prepare cost-benefit and return-on-investment analyses to aid in decisions on system implementation. Interview or survey workers observe job performance or perform the job to determine what information is processed and how it is processed. Coordinate and link the computer systems within an organization to increase compatibility and so information can be shared. Consult with management to ensure agreement on system principles. Expand or modify system to serve new purposes or improve workflow. Skills: Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, attention to detail and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and manage one’s time. Basic mentoring skills necessary to provide support and constructive performance feedback. Knowledge of design techniques and principles involved in production of drawings and models. Knowledge of computer software, such as Visual Basic, Java, SQL, etc. Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as computer science, computer engineering or related field required. MBA or other related advanced degree preferred. 5-7 years’ experience required.
Additional Job Details:
This is primarily a support role with some involvement in development of IT applications and solutions involving assessment of product compliance to global regulations. Solutions involve inputs from data sources, creation of data sources, data cleansing, logic operations on data for analysis, output of analysis results to meet specific reporting requirements, and user interfaces for analysis. Strong experience in using Teamcenter, Oracle, and Access. Basic experience in coding in SQL and .Net. Teamcenter Substance Compliance experience preferred. Support: Monitor issues with IT applications brought up by users due to software defects, data integrity, and functionality requests. Triage issues found, determine priority and establish responsible department for issue resolution. Ensure thorough documentation throughout issue resolution. Monitor issue closure progress. Validate IT issue resolutions Work with other departments (product groups, purchasing) to determine root cause, influence priority, and support data correction and root cause resolution. Development: Translate business requirements into requirements to develop IT solutions. Develop use cases and participate in design, development and test phases of projects. Lead UAT. Document instructions for IT applications. Development of FAQs for recurring support questions.
Education Requirement:
Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as computer science, computer engineering or related field required. MBA or other related advanced degree preferred.
Critical Technical Skills:
Experience in data systems (such as Engineering and Purchasing) to analyze data flow from various data sources to uncover errors and data disconnects. Experience in data cleansing.
