DESCRIPTION:
Custodial Workers assist with various maintenance tasks and are expected to perform a variety of janitorial and custodial duties. This position will report to the Director of Maintenance.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Cleans buildings, walls, windows, and sidewalks and other areas as assigned;
- Cleans bathrooms; lavatory, toilet fixtures, counters, floors, walls and mirrors and restocks paper supplies and soap as needed;
- Checks bathrooms regularly and cleans and checks supplies regularly or upon request;
- Vacuum, sweeps, mops public areas and offices, following established schedule;
- Picks up trash and debris, and empties trashcans;
- Sweeps and mops floors;
- Dusts furniture including tables, desks, bookcases, filing cabinets, etc. in assigned areas;
- Cleans glass doors and mirrors daily depending on traffic and need;
- Empties trash containers and replaces liners as needed and straightens furniture in public areas; Removes trash from buildings;
- Uses tools and equipment such as vacuum cleaners, brooms, mops, and wringers;
- May operate and clean company vehicles;
- Assist in general inspections of property for the completeness of housekeeping services;

Hours & Conditions of Work: Hours vary contingent upon program, activity, event, and facility demand. Flexibility required to include weekdays, nights and weekends. The nature of this work will require staff to work outside in various environmental conditions. Duties may require one to sit, stand, stoop, bend, lift and reach. Special Requirements:
- Ability to become first aid and CPR certified within 4 months of hire.
- Possession of a valid NC driver's license
- One must be at least 18 years of age at time of application; education at a level that provides the ability to read, write and understand instructions.

- Working knowledge of the occupational hazards and applicable safety precautions associated with assigned custodial and maintenance work.
- Ability to respond courteously to employees and residents.
- Ability to understand and follow specific oral and written instructions.
- Ability to identify cleaning needs and resolve with appropriate methods and supplies.
- Ability to perform manual labor requiring continuous physical effort.
- Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with peers and supervisors, and the public when required.
