Minimum Qualifications
A successful candidate must possess a high school diploma or GED.  Culinary training is preferred but not required.  Must know how to prepare nutritious breakfasts, lunches and snacks for children.  Have intimate knowledge of food safety and an understanding of child nutrition needs.  Must pass a criminal background check.  Must be able to work on their feet for long periods of time and lift heavy containers of food and equipment. 
                

General Duties
General duties include preparing meals, cleaning the kitchen and eating areas, keeping accurate records, making a shopping list,  ordering or shopping for needed food and kitchen items.

Specific Responsibilities  

• Safely preparing all meals (breakfast, lunch, and snacks)
• Requisition appropriate amounts of food based on designated menus.
• Check food delivers against orders.
• Store food appropriately, before preparation, in refrigerator, freezer, bins, or cupboards.
• Prepare all foods using methods that maintain food value and freshness.
• Record amounts of food used daily and maintain an inventory of staples on hand.
• Wash and sterilize dishes and all utensils according to sanitary directions.
• Clean appliances and storage areas according to a designated schedule.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
