Job Description:

Program CNC equipment using CAD CAM and manual programming. Setup the machines and prove out those programs. Read and interpret blueprints and CAD models to produce parts.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Work directly with the Machine Shop Supervise and shop team to keep all CNC machines programmed to meet the needs of the manufacturing and productions schedules

Has required PPE to be safe while on the plant floor

Dress appropriately for summer and winter weather

Do not abuse equipment or let employees abuse equipment and follow up on any needed repairs

Set up and operate CNC and manual mills, lathes, be an active part of teaching operators how to run

each machine and hold them accountable for results and progress.

Determine the sequence of machine operations and select the proper cutting tools needed to machine workpieces into the desired shapes.

Revise programs to eliminate error, and retest programs to check that problems have been solved.

Analyze job orders, drawings, blueprints, specifications, and design data to calculate dimensions, tool selection, machine speeds, and feed rates

Write instruction sheets and cutter lists for a machine’s controller to guide setup

Observe machines on trial runs and/or conduct computer simulations to ensure that a programs and machinery will function properly and produce items that meet specifications.

Enter computer commands to store or retrieve parts patterns, graphic displays, or programs that transfer data to other media

Modify existing programs to enhance efficiency.

Determine reference points, machine cutting paths, or hole locations, and compute angular and linear dimensions, radii, and curvatures.

Compare computer printouts of original par specifications and blueprints to verify accuracy of instructions.

 

Make fixtures and gages for production parts.

 

Prepare geometric layouts from graphic displays, using computer-assisted drafting software or drafting instruments and graph paper

Draw machine tool paths on pattern film according to guidelines for tool speed and efficiency.

Using computers and computer systems (including hardware and software) to program, write software, set up functions, enter data and process information

Using either control mechanisms or direct physical activity to operate machines or processes. Program equipment to performs productions tasks

Determine production equipment settings

Select production equipment according to product specifications. Performs other related duties as assigned by the Production/Plant Manager

Keep all maintenance logs up to date as required

Work with the Production team to keep the plant floor and all equipment in good running order and clean

Making sure employees that report to you meet performance expectations.

Give necessary instructions/directions to subordinate employees.

Ensuring that the work environment is safe, secure and healthy.

Work with HR to make sure all employees have been onboarded fully and department orientation is completed within the first 45 days of employment.

Complete all evaluations in a timely manner prior to anniversary date. Meeting deadlines, approving work hours for schedules and payroll Ensure great customer service at all levels.
