CNC MACHINIST – LATHE

 

 

Location: Bridgeport MI
SUMMARY OF POSITION

Set up, perform offsets, operate and tend a lathe.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Select programs, collets, bushings and tooling for setups 
  • Perform setups as needed
  • Perform offsets as needed
  • Perform first piece first article and in-process inspection of parts
  • Manufacture parts to manufacturing prints or customer prints
  • Maintain tooling
  • Clean parts and move them to the next operation
  • Perform weekly, monthly and quarterly maintenance on machine
  • Perform bench work as needed
  • Assist and train others as needed
  • Perform weekly housekeeping per 5S schedule
  • May be required to assist with new programs
  • May be required to perform additional duties as assigned by Cell Leader or management
  • Perform other duties as required or directed by the Department Supervisor or Lead
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • High School or equivalent.
  • Ability to read blueprints and interpret GD&T required
  • Knowledge of hand measuring tools required (ex. Micrometers, calipers, etc.)
  • Previous lathe or similar experience for higher level lathe operators.
SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED
  • Attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of machine shop theory, machinability of materials and layout techniques.
  • Knowledge of GD&T; complete knowledge of G codes.
  • Ability to read blue prints.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Lifting up to 40 lbs. unassisted
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time
  • Corrected vision of 20/20, preferred.
  • Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as determined for the position.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
  • Must submit to and pass background and substance abuse tests.
  • Must be able to provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States through eVerify.
  • Must adhere to the Company Code of Conduct and Core Values.
  • Must follow designated safety rules and regulations.
  • Must be able to fulfill all the requirements of this position, including requirements related to the company’s Safety, Quality and Environmental Management System Policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for performing duties in an environment that is free from discrimination, intimidation, coercion or harassment, including sexual harassment
  • Manufacturing environment: may be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, dirt, dust, disinfectants, solvents, cleaning chemicals, etc.
  • Must be able to work extended hours (including weekends) as necessitated by production requirements.
