Canvasser

Care in Action (www.careinactionvotes.org) is a nonprofit group dedicated to fighting for dignity and fairness for the millions of domestic workers in the United States, most of whom are immigrants and women of color. 

Care in Action is hiring motivated individuals for a paid canvass program in the Virginia Beach, Northern Virginia (Prince William County), and Richmond regions for the 2019 election cycle. Canvassers will be responsible for talking with voters about this upcoming election. We will deepen our knowledge of the most pressing issues in Virginia voters and encourage folks to vote in this crucial election. Looking to fill positions immediately! 

This is a temporary position. Canvassers will work under the immediate supervision of the Virginia State Director and Care in Action staff. Those with previous canvassing experience are encouraged to apply! 

Duties & Responsibilities: 
* Door knock for several hours a day, walking required (canvassing will happen Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays from 4:00 - 8:00 pm, and on Saturdays from 10:00am - 1:00 pm)
* Talk to voters about their interests and concerns 
* Commit to having thorough daily debriefs 
* Tracking and entering canvassing data information using the VAN application

Qualifications and experience:
* Have access to an insured, registered vehicle for job duration 
* Have access to a smart phone for job duration 
* Works well independently towards a team goal
* Strong interpersonal skills and outgoing personality
* Be goal-oriented, punctual, organized and with a positive attitude
* Believe in the mission and vision of the Care in Action 
* Proficiency in a language other than English is a plus
