We are in need of a Azure Database Architect (10+ years) with strong SQL, Redis, NOSQL, VMware and Azure/Data Lake experience.

This is a phone and Skype to hire. Candidates in Florida with a LinkedIn profile preferred but not required.

Database Architect

Position Description
The Database Architect position develops and manages high-level technical design plans and implementation within the business delivery technical IT architecture.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, computer Science or related discipline or equivalent work experience
• Master's degree in a related field preferred
• Ten (10) years or more relevant IT experience
• Ten (10) years or more experience working with Database Architecture standards, processes & tools including Infrastructure Architecture standards, technology trends
• Ten (10) years or more experience in Information/Data Design, construction, Implementation and Maintenance
• Ten (10) years or more experience using analytical skills, tools and techniques to investigate information and to draw conclusions
• Ten (10) years or more proven experience in diagnosing, isolating/resolving complex issues, recommending and implementing
• strategies to resolve problems
• Ten (10) years or more experience with SQL Server, Oracle, No-SQL, In-Memory, Big Data, Data Lakes.
• Ten (10) years or more experience with systems migration, integration processes, methodology and tools
• Six (6) year or more experience with design, implementation, and maintenance of very large databases (VLDB), replication technologies (Attunity, Golden Gate, AlwaysOn).
• Five (5) year or more experience with VMWare virtualization technology.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Communicates information and ideas to varying audiences and in multiple written styles (persuasive, informative, narrative) in order to negotiate/gain access to information and records

• Ability to:

• Strong understanding of database principles and ability to understand database programming (advanced level)
• Relevant technical certification preferred

Responsibilities
o Develop high-level planning, design, optimization, research, analysis, proposals, and solution delivery that align with the business and technology strategies
o Develop direction & strategy for database farms and licensing consolidation
o Develop strategies and direction for systems and solutions that use current and emerging technologies
o Translate business into architecture or process designs
o Evaluate and recommend new products and maintain knowledge of emerging technologies for enterprise application
o Monitor systems performance, ensure capacity planning is performed and is proactive in assessing and providing recommendations for improvement and perform as an internal consultant, advocate, mentor and change agent
o Processes significant business knowledge with one or more concentrated areas of technical expertise
o Work across several business areas as a visionary to proactively assist in defining the direction of future projects
o Develop and maintains design plan for technical IT architecture
o Collaborate, define and maintain effective and efficient designs to optimize performance
o Play a lead role in the evaluation of third-party software applications and components targeted for possible integration into the overall solution, including strategic applications, tools and utilities
o Provides direction, guidance and definition of enterprise’s architecture to effectively support the corporate business strategy
o Teaches others the technical and functional knowledge and skills needed to achieve results at the optimum level of performance
o May perform a leadership role as Project Leader for special enterprise-wide assignments
o Provide advanced multi-disciplinary knowledge, skills and experience in technical architecture and design
o Plan and recommend hardware, systems management, software and architecture
o Database administration performance tuning and standard coding practices
o Review, define, and publish database policies and standard in the organization
o Performs other duties as assigned
