Job Description:

The heart of our client's strategy is the development of novel, cutting-edge methods in machine learning and high-throughput biology to address key bottlenecks in the drug development pipeline. In alignment with this strategy, the Functional Genomics group is building the foundational platforms for performing high-throughput screens. As an associate scientist, you will work with a dynamic team to help develop cutting-edge functional genomic screens using CRISPRn/a/i, next-generation sequencing, and image phenotyping to model human diseases and discover drugs. We are looking for motivated and talented candidates who are interested in being part of a unique, cross-disciplinary team of biologists, bioengineers, machine learners, and data scientists who want to make a difference.

Requirements of the Associate Scientist II/III, Functional Genomics:

  • B.S./M.S. in biological science with a preference for genetics and/or neuroscience background, bioengineering or relevant disciplines, or equivalent experience
  • 2-3+ years of relevant research experience, in academia or industry
  • Strong experience with mammalian cell culture required. Ideally, experience with human induced pluripotent stem cell culture (iPSC)
  • Experience with lentivirus production, titer, and transduction
  • Experience with CRISPRn/i/a genetic screening is a plus
  • Experience in molecular biology, cloning, and NGS prep
  • Experience characterizing mammalian cell cultures via FACS, single-cell transcriptomics, or high-content imaging
  • Excellent lab practice, organized, detail-oriented, and strong communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a dynamic team
  • Positive attitude and eagerness to learn

Nice to Have:

  • Experience in iPSC differentiation, particularly to neural lineages
  • Experience with microscopy, including immunohistochemistry, in situ hybridization, live-cell imaging, and/or high content imaging
  • Experience conducting transcriptomics assays (single-cell RNA-seq a plus)
  • Familiarity with high throughput screening and assay development
  • Familiarity with automated liquid handler systems for cell culture (i.e., Bravo, Tecan, Hamilton)
  • Familiarity with data analysis in Python, R

Benefits of the Associate Scientist II/III, Functional Genomics:

  • Medical Insurance
  • Dental Insurance
  • Vision Insurance
