You are a seasoned manager, willing to take on difficult situations by thinking outside the box. You are a self-directed, organized, and articulate person. You pride yourself on customer service skills and can demonstrate these skills to a team. You enjoy all the responsibilities of management including skills in accuracy, disciplinary actions, safety responsibilities, training, and appropriate team building. You enjoy resolving complaints in a friendly and timely manner, and effectively demonstrate this skill to team members. You are a master of public communications and enjoy speaking to groups about your passion for animals. You have considerable knowledge of municipal animal shelter and control operations. You create and maintain positive, resilient workplace cultures where you address issued head on; you have success in forging and maintaining positive, productive, and collaborative relationships with stakeholder groups and the community. You enjoy preparing, administering, and monitoring an annual budget.

 Who you will be working with: You will be working with a very strong team of goal-oriented individuals who all have a passion for serving the community through the Animal Shelter and Animal Control. You will be reporting to the Assistant Director of Municipal and Community Services.

The first hurdle: We are hoping you have all of these important assets. If you don’t, please tell us how close you come. Ideally, you have a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field of study and a minimum of four years of management experience, including budgetary and staff supervision in animal shelter, humane society, or similar field, preferably in a municipal shelter. Previous experience in these areas works for us, as well. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.; ability to compose and write reports, letters, correspondence, memos, policies, and presentations. You must have a valid Texas driver’s license and your driving record must meet or surpass our guidelines as set by the City. You must have a clear criminal history. You must have or be able to obtain your Basic Animal Control Certification within six months of employment. You must have or be able to obtain your Euthanasia Certification issued by the Texas Department of Health within six months of employment.
